July 2009

July 7 – I haven’t done a lot in the garden, but over the last few weeks we have been eating lettuce and sugar snap peas out of our garden. The rhubarb is doing nicely, strawberries are growing, tomatoes are flowering and we have green ones, the Three Sisters is doing well, and the herbs have gone crazy and many have gone to seed. I have spent some time raking up the mown grass and putting it on the tilled area, around the Three Sisters and another little area with Early Girl tomatoes and an unknown squash plant. This is definitely helping to keep the weeds down. I have not planted anything else in several weeks, even though Scott the Farmer said it was a good time to plant corn (this was almost 2 weeks ago that he said this) and fall broccoli.
